Every icon already chosen keeps rendering. The SVG is stored in your field data and the render function is in the free plugin, so live sites are unaffected. The picker is what stops: after a seven-day grace period the field asks you to reactivate before you can choose a new icon. Renewing restores it, and so does dropping back to the free plugin if you only need Heroicons.
